My MAMA

My mama is a rockstar.

When I came home from one semester break thousands of hundreds years ago with my hair bleached, she casually told my cousins that instead of swimming in a pool or beach, I "mandi kuala".

When I came home with 5 earrings on one side and a lip stud, she casually told my father that it was a good thing to have a daughter piercing herself like that because if I were to go missing, "boleh carik pakai magnet".

When I came back after 3 years of studying and she unpacked my big luggage because her daughter was too busy going out with friends and saw some 'unwanted' pictures, she calmly advised while preparing dinner, "apa yang awak buat kat sana, mama rasa it would be much sweeter if you wait until you're married".

When I have rows with dad, she calmly picked up her broken glasses or plates or whatever damages done and came into my room, soothingly but painfully advised me that I only have one father and if he made mistakes, it is because he is just a human being. And to be shouting and screaming at my father will not solve anything.

When my heart got smashed and I cried on her laps, she gently stroked my hair and said, "I raised a strong child... cry if you must but don't lose your life,".

My mama is a rockstar.

If I were to become a mother myself, God help my child, I would be equally patience as my mom. Because looking back at what I did and if I were the mother of me, I don't think I'd be here now writing this.

Daughters have a weird way of emulating their mothers, trust me.

I learned thru being one myself. Now, I see a lot of her mirrored in me. And sometimes, I find it scary too! Honest!
